There's absolutely nothing wrong with having scars! Most of us have them in one form or another, as a scar is a sign that your body has healed itself from a wound of some sort.
Scars can be signs of strength and healing. After tissue is damaged, scarring is part of the body's natural healing process as it forms new collagen fibers to strengthen the area around the wound.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason as to why some scars linger, and others fade. But there are things you can do to help support deeper healing and reduce the appearance of those scars over time.
Treat them early.
The sooner you begin nurturing your scars the better. And we suggest starting out by using all-natural, pure ingredients to do so. You might be surprised at just how effective natural oils, butters and essential oils can be when applied topically onto your scars.
Our favorite oils for treating scars all over the body are rosehip oil, lavender oil, frankincense oil and cedarwood oil. Here's a quick recipe for a Deep Scar Repair Oil that you can whip up in a matter of minutes and begin using right away!
Deep Scar Repair Oil
- 1 oz. Rosehip Oil
- 10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
- 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 4 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
Directions: Starting with the base oil (rosehip oil) add these ingredients into a 1 oz. glass bottle - preferably one with a glass dropper. Shake gently before each use.
To Use: Use as often as you like! We recommend applying this deep scar repair oil daily before bed. Shake gently before each use, apply a few drops to the scar(s) and use your fingers to massage in gently.
Not only is this essential oil deep scar repair oil blend effective, it's also incredibly aromatic and offers a bonus aromatherapy experience with each use! Frankincense's balsamic and earthy aroma is very grounding while lavender and cedarwood combined offer lightly herbal and slightly sweet layers.
