There is a clear connection between aroma and emotion. Let's talk about it.
For some, the "winter blues" can go way beyond occasional mood swings brought on by gloomy weather. For those suffering from SAD - seasonal affective disorder - harsh winter weather can cause feelings of depression, low energy, sleep issues, change in appetite, the inability to focus, and so much more.
Did you know? While SAD is most often linked to winter weather, the disorder can actually affect people throughout any seasonal transition, such as spring to summer.
Luckily, there are many ways to combat SAD. Exercise, meditation, diet changes, light therapy, getting more vitamin D and essential oils are all things you can implement to help combat SAD.
Something to keep in mind is that everyone is different, and will experience SAD in their own unique way. While someone might find simple diet changes to be incredibly effective, a fellow SAD sufferer might need to combine several methods to experience a noticeable improvement in their symptoms.
Here at EOL our specialty is essential oils, so while we feel it's important to always consult a physician on these matters, we do also want to focus in on aromatherapy as a method for combatting SAD.
